Funny Girl

Why see Funny Girl?

Fanny Brice Is Back

Classic musical theatre lovers will be overjoyed to hear that Jules Stein and Bob Merrill's iconic show, Funny Girl, is now playing at The Shaw! Telling the autobiographical tale of comedian Fanny Brice, who found fame in the early 20th century. Funny Girl is a humorous and heartfelt ride through Brice's life, showing that despite her problems, her wit and smarts kept her own parade going!

What Is Funny Girl About?

The story traces the life of Fanny Brice, a legendary vaudeville entertainer who rose to fame in 1920s and 30s America. Though described by some (somewhat unkindly) as an ugly duckling, her exuberance and boundless talent turned her into a huge star, finding fame on the stage and screen, and on the radio. But her troubled private life also hit the spotlight. Her stormy relationship with the sophisticated con artist Nicky Arnstein had its many ups and downs, but through it all, Fanny prevailed.
